After doing all the reading and summarizing lengthy research papers I am starting to set up the devices to start the attack implementation phase of the project. I have done so more research and I saw that Kali Linux is a better Linux than Ubuntu since Ubuntu is used for general use while Kali is specialized for security, hacking and spoofing. When I downloaded it really did have a lot of the security and hacking software already installed, which Ubuntu did not have. So if anyone plans on using any type of hacking, packet capture analysis and spoofing in their project I would definitely suggest using Kali Linux. Once I downloaded Kali Linux I had to change the network interface so I was able to detect the devices I wanted to ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) poison and implement the attacks I have done the research on. The majority the time I spent this week was finding and changing to the Wi-Fi network interface, wlan0, which I was able to do but since I am using the Virtual Box it cannot detect the Wi-Fi signals like the host computer I am using. I found the solution to this problem after going through tons of website forums and YouTube videos, all I am saying is read the comments of YouTube videos and the answer just might be there. I had to buy a wireless Wi-Fi adapter which should solve my problem hopefully. I felt like I have learned many small important things this week that will definitely help later on if I plan on doing more cyber security like using Kali Linux for security projects, a wireless adapter for Virtual Box systems, and changing network interfaces.
