Week 4

This week probably has set me back a few days since the Wi-Fi adapters I bought did not work with the Virtual Box, unfortunately, but I was able to return them and get my money back for them. I also had a back-up plan if the Wi-Fi adapters did not work which was to use the mentor’s laptop that has a physical Linux distributor on it. So once I got my hands on the laptop I was finally able to detect the devices on the Wi-Fi so I can implement the attacks of telephony harassment or denial of voice service (THDoS). Now I just need to know how to create Ettercap filters that will affect mobile users in four different ways.  Besides all that, I was given a task to look into another cyber-security based subject which is blockchain. Blockchain is basically blocks of data that have a time stamp and cannot be changed, a good example of this would be the use of bitcoin. Bitcoin only exists on a network that uses a peer to peer (P2P) which means it makes transactions between computers which are called nodes in this case. Basically, I am supposed to see the other possibilities that can be made possible with the blockchain. There was not a lot accomplished this week but hopefully, I will be able to make more progress next week when I am conducting the attacks and analyzing the effects some more.
